ABOUT JEN GASSIRARO
ARTIST STATEMENT | BIO
My work is unapologetically bold, feminine, and a little rough around the edges. It’s a visual journal—part diary, part love note, part “dear john,” woven with threads of nostalgia. Each mark tells a story, becoming a visual metaphor that speaks to raw emotion, memory, and experience.
I embrace a bold color palette that celebrates contrast, creating energy through dynamic clashes and harmony. My process taps into the magic that arises when I listen to my inner voice—whether that voice feels joyful, sorrowful, or indifferent. There is a feisty spontaneity in my work, a beauty that emerges in the moment, with a sense of urgency and unpredictability.
Through my art, I explore the tension between conformity and freedom. I question how we make ourselves feel small, how we push boundaries, and how we can extend beyond the limits of the composition. Areas left untouched are just as significant as the marks that fill the space—each one part of a larger narrative about breaking through, expanding, and reclaiming power.
